Internet-Based Embedded System Architectures - End-User Development Support for Embedded System Applications

چکیده
This paper presents an approach to industrial embedded system networking that offers a reusable design pattern for the class of Internet-based applications. It deals with an integrated networking framework stemming (1) from the IEEE 1451.1 smart transducer interface standard, which is an object-based networking model supporting among others publish-subscribe approach to group messaging, and (2) from the Internet Protocol (IP) multicast communication, mediating efficient and unified access to smart sensors through Internet. The kernel of this paper focuses on adaptations and tuning of those concepts and on their utilization for a gas pipes pressure measurement system as an application example. Furthermore, the contribution brings this scheme in form suitable not only for framework builders, but also for end-user

The article is centred on software system development for manufacturing company that produces polyethylene bags using mostly conventional machines in a competitive world where each business enterprise desires to stand tall. This is meant to assist in gaining market shares, taking maintenance and production decisions by the dynamism and flexibilities embedded in the package as customers’ demand ...
متن کاملTowards the Internet of Things: Integration of Web Services and Field Level Devices
Handling the development and management of networked embedded systems becomes more and more complex with the increasing number and diversity of connected components. The challenges encountered during application development can be mastered by applying a model driven development approach and the concepts of service oriented architectures (SOA). Both development strategies are well established in...
متن کاملEngineering Web Technologies for Embedded Applications
W eb browsers have become the de facto standard user interface to a variety of applications. They can run on almost any platform—from PCs and workstations to PDAs, cell phones, and pagers—and allow end-users to access Web-enabled applications from any location. Applied to embedded systems, Web technologies offer graphical user interfaces that are user friendly, inexpensive, cross-platform, and ...
متن کاملPh.D. thesis: Distributed troubleshooting of edge-compute functions
Most of today’s Internet applications and services rely on the cloud, i.e. they execute within datacenters that concentrate the associated compute functions and data storage. This cloud-based approach brings strong operational benefits, but also comes with important limitations, in particular in terms of loss of privacy, cost, availability (for end-devices with intermittent connectivity) and la...
